Assertion Analysis #23
Frederick Douglass is saying that he is overwhelmed with mourning and negative vibes as he thinks about the death that over took America. He is also saying that he is tired of seeing the death of his people in defense of a country that is not trying to treat them equal. As he cries for his brothers that are just forgotten about once dead. He uses Pathos to portray his feelings toward this situation. The use of 1st person point of view adds an inclusive sense for the reader. Douglass said his feelings with deep negative connotation but in an educated sense that let's you know he is a lerned man but is directly affected by the damage done to his country.
